Japan and Georgia for Rugby World Cup 2007
Japan and Georgia booked places at Rugby World Cup 2007 in France after successfully negotiating the latest round of qualifying at the weekend. Japan comfortably defeated Korea 54-0 in Hong Kong to qualify as Asia 1, while Georgia's 11-11 draw against Portugal in Lisbon was enough to secure a 28-14 aggregate victory and a place as Europe 3.
Japan will play in Pool B at next year's Tournament and will kick-off its sixth RWC campaign against double champions Australia in Lyon on 8 September before facing Fiji, Wales and Canada.
Japan made light work of defeating a battling Korean side in Hong Kong, scoring eight tries in the process in a victory which was a significant step-up in performance from the 25-3 Asia Qualifying Tournament victory achieved against Hong Kong earlier in the week.
